Hotel Ca' del Lupo, Diano d'Alba, and Barollo

After a short tour of Alba, we toured a beautiful winery (see past post, Fratelli Mossio Winery) and then we enjoyed a relaxing 24 hours at Hotel Ca' del Lupo, and then visited a couple cute little towns before heading home.

First of all, the view was gorgeous from every vantage point, especially from the hotel pool:


The hotel itself was very modern while still fitting in with the hillside. To me, it resembled the terracing all over Italy. I doubt that is accidental.

We lounged by the pool all afternoon before dinner on Saturday, and then we spent most of Sunday there as well, even after we checked out. The air was clean and fresh, and we could stare at that view for hours (which we did). The only sounds were trees rustling in the breeze, motorcycles passing on the beautiful mountain roads, and, once, a private helicopter passing over very low.

Ca' del Lupo being an agriturismo, dinner was included and made from local, traditional ingredients. However, being a modern-styled hotel, the food was also rather modern itself. Dinner overlooked the valley, and the view was transformed at night to only the lights of the little hilltop towns. The wine was, of course, all very local... literally made from the grapes we could see growing from the hotel.

We enjoyed the included breakfast on the veranda before heading back to the pool.

We were very pleased with Ca' del Lupo in terms of location, scenery, style, food, cleanliness, great staff, price, comfort, everything! We highly recommend visiting. Why don't you just go ahead and book it now?

By the afternoon, it became time to peel ourselves away from the pool and head out. The drive itself was incredible, with wineries all around and winding scenic routes from town to town.

We stopped for a snack and an incredible glass of wine in Barollo, which is a famous little wine town.



And then we headed back to our home on the coast... I am ready to visit again! What we learned is that there are so many beautiful little towns around Alba, that one can skip Alba and go straight out to the country. We are fortunate enough to know we'll be back, so this was worth discovering on our own.
